This astonshingly peaceful place lies in the heart of the second largest city in Arequipa. It occupies a whole block near the centre of the city, surrounded by all the bustle and hubub you would expect in such a place. Yet inside it is a haven of calm. Part of the complex is still used as a convent but the rest is open to visitors and is certainly my favourite place in this busy city.

Different areas are decorated in different colours. This beautifully harmonious little corner was a lovely place to sit and relax.
