The glacier snout and Sangemar beyond
Taken from our Advance Base Camp (ABC) this shows a significant section of our route. First we had to cross the corrie on the left. This whole areas was contantly raked by stonefall during the day (we gave it the nickname of the Bowling Alley) and so had to be crossed during the night. Then we gained the glacier in the upper left (also subject to horrendous stonefall) and crossed to the relative safety of the upper glacier at the col. We were then going to ascend the forepeak on the right by the obvious snow slope, but unfortuantely by the time we were ready to attempt this the conditions had deteriorated and become too dangerous forcing us to give up.
