I took my mother on a trip to Egypt in 2001 where we did the classic cruise down the Nile visiting the most incredible array of ancient sites. From the temples in the South to the great pyramids in the North. The sheer timescales of Ancient Egypt are one the most amazings aspects of its sites. Some of these buildings are over 5000 years old. They were already 3000 years old at the time of Christ.

They were already tourist attractions before the time of Christ. There is ancient Egyptian tourist grafitti on some of the (more) ancient Eyptian monuments! The skill and beauty of their building and carving is breathtaking, and where it is well preserved you begin to get a glimpse of what it must have looked like in its own time.
